Yegana Jafarova is originally from Azerbaijan and currently lives close to the harbour and beaches of Sydney. Having quit her job as an Environmental Scientist, her decade-old hobby and passion for pottery have become her life. Yegana has been teaching pottery and making art full time for the last 5 years.

Azerbaijan lies in the heart of the ancient Silk Road, which connected East and West, and Sydney’s natural beauty provides inspiration of another kind. Yegana is interested in exploring these two powerful influences, and seeing where they take her work.

Yegana loves working with porcelain, testing its limits and being tested by it. As her practice evolves, various surface decoration techniques, alterations of wheel-thrown pieces and botanical motifs all find their place in her work.
