Liss Finney (b. 1992, lutruwita / Tasmania) is a multidisciplinary Australian artist based on Awabakal Country in Newcastle, NSW. Her work spans across a variety of media, predominantly working with paint and installation. A key part of Finney’s practice involves exploring different forms of expressive process to investigate the human experience within the modern and natural world. Her works are often driven by environmental concern, examinations of social constructs around gender and sexuality, as well as reimagining the landscape through processes of memory and intuition.

Finney has a background in scientific Illustration, holding a Bachelor Degree with Distinction in Natural History Illustration from the University of Newcastle, and is currently completing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the National Art School, majoring in painting. Finney has exhibited across NSW, undertaken an artist residency at NES in Iceland in 2017 supported by Maitland Regional Art Gallery, was awarded the 2019 Hall and Wilcox Emerging Artist Prize and is a finalist in the 2020 Blake Prize.
