Emily Belle Ellis is a Sydney based Ceramicist. Her practice began in Textile design focusing on this major at University along side Objects and Ceramics, however, it was working on intricate and hand drawn digital prints with many hours spent at the computer that lead her to go back to rediscover clay as her main medium.
The malleability of clay exploring shape in three dimensional form almost becomes a direct extension of line on paper, the labour intensive process of hand building allows the maker to spend long hours with each object almost becoming embedded within the piece itself.
Her forms aim at exploring the way in which we integrated daily objects into our daily rituals, Pieces are to be used and treasured both physically and visually almost bleeding into the surrounding environment in order to evoke a textual, tactile response.
